Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) Healthcare QI Specialist ~ Tyler Mother Francis
Position Purpose:
Performs complex to highly complex (journey-level) work. The Infection Prevention and Control Specialist will provide technical support, education and work collaboratively with state partners, assigned healthcare facilities, and other public health programs to complete Infection Control Assessment Reviews (ICARs) of healthcare settings within the state. Plans, facilitates, and implements projects and ensures required deadlines and deliverables are met. Works under general supervision, with moderate to considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Completes Infection Control Assessment Reviews (ICARs) within a variety of healthcare settings both in-person and virtual.
2. Provides timely written feedback summaries with recommendations to healthcare settings and timely documentation in required systems in response to completed Infection Control Assessment Reviews (ICARs).
3. Provides resources and training in response to Infection Control Assessment Reviews (ICARs).
4. Participates in or presents during meetings with state partners, healthcare facilities and/or other public health programs on Infection Prevention and Control and Healthcare Acquired Infection information.
5. Researches and maintains up to date knowledge of current evidence-based practice, regulatory guidance and resources available to healthcare settings to ensure effective implementation of infection control practices.
Minimum Qualifications
Education, License, Certification or Training
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in infection prevention, epidemiology, public health, or other healthcare related discipline OR Registered Nurse (RN)
- Additional relevant experience in healthcare or other related areas may be substituted for Bachelor’s degree on a year per year basis. (Experience requirements may be satisfied by full-time experience or the prorated part-time equivalent.)
- Certified in Infection Control (CIC) (required per contract)
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), preferredExperience
1. Three (3) years relevant healthcare, infection prevention, epidemiology or public health(required per contact)
Graduate or Professional degree in a health related discipline or other related field may be substituted for up to two (2) years of experience
2. One (1) to Two (2) years process improvement, quality improvement, quality assurance, or related experience
